William wordsworth is an romantic poet who mostly inspired by nature. One of his poem “To a Butterfly” reveals his inspirational perceptions through a butterfly.Through this poem he tries to expose his childhood experiences and his joys.In this poem wordsworth personifying butterfly as a human  and he talking with it.Here the butterfly symbolizes wordsworth’s childhood days. Also he talks about his and his sister’s childish days in this poem.

In first line he watched the butterfly and contemplate about his own experiences. The first two lines implies how he sinks into the nature when he sees the butterfly that sits upon on the yellow flower. He says ‘I’ve watched you now a full half hour’ through this line he reveals how deeply he watched the butterfly. From the third line he is talking with a butterfly. He gently calls the butterfly to begins his conversation with it.The line three ‘little butterfly!’ is exemplifies wordworth’s perceptions on butterfly. The way he calls the butterfly is tenderly touches the readers heart and it make readers to imagine the butterfly and it’s beauty that sits upon on the yellow flower.

He personified the butterfly as a human. On the basis of he says that he doesn’t know whether the butterfly is sleeping or feeding on the flower.Because, the reaction of butterfly is motionless. So he is confused of it’s scaena. He sees with astonishment of the position of the butterfly. That’s why he repeats the word ‘Motionless’ twice. Then he thinks that the butterfly is waiting for some joys.So he asks a question to a butterfly ‘ what joy awaits you…’ through this question he tries to explain childhood has many joys. Then he reply his question from his perceptions. He says to the butterfly that when the breeze come then the flower will breeze in the air. So,he describes the scene of the breeze that gently shake the trees and the flower. Then he could see the motion of the butterfly.

The great feelings about that motion of the butterfly is attractive scene in this poem and through these lines ”what joy awaits you, when the breeze……and calls you forth again!” he exposes extreme level of thinking about nature.

In first stanza he fully talking about butterfly,it’s movement and it’s beauty. But in second stanza he returns to talk about his own memories. In the second stanza he starts with the experiences of his and his sister’s childish days.”The plot of the orchard ground is ours” here the word “ours” implies wordsworth’s and his sister. The level of his loving on nature is reveals through the line “My trees they are,My sister’s flower” here he tries to tell that the trees are his the flowers are his sister’s.from this line we could get the message that wordsworth loves nature equally to the human.

Third line of the second stanza he requesting to the butterfly to take rest at his orchard- ground whenever it feels weary. Here he describes the butterfly as his childish days.It doesn’t mean he calls the butterfly to his garden. He tries to recall his childhood days back through the butterfly. He remembers and talks about his past and his childish days. When he talking about his past he says that, “that was a summer days”.Still he thinks that was sweet days of his life. When he sees the butterfly then he starts to feel his own experiences of his childish days. From this poem he is not only talking about butterfly but, through the symbole of butterfly he remembers his own experiences with the butterfly and he uses butterfly to expose his perceptions. He says how he and his sister were enjoyed at their childish days.

The poetry of wordsworth is best characterised by its strong affinity with nature and also in wordsworth poetry ,childhood is a magical, magnificent time of innocence.when the children grow up they lose their connection to nature but they gain an ability to feel emotions through nature.Through the power of the human mind, particularly memory of adults can recollect the devoted connection to nature of their youth. The emotion of poet is combined with other thoughts and feelings from the poet's past experiences using memory and imagination.

Each and everyone has lots of memories in their mind.In that sense, this poem also has an experience aboud childhood days of the poet. But the way wordsworth speaking is emotionally beautiful.Nature is an beautiful, attractive and magnificent aspect.Through the nature he remembers his past days and also the way he describes the nature is also beautiful.

In the second stanza from the line three to six poet tells to the butterfly “come often to his he garden” through these lines he implies that he oftenly wants rewind his childish days so,he indirectly requesting to the butterfly  to share his feelings with it.It means he wants to share his experiences of past sweet days with that butterfly(nature).

In romantic period most of the poets talk about nature. But the way wordsworth talks about nature is different.Because,he talks about nature with  his own experiences. When we read the poems of wordsworth we could understand that. For instance, the poem “I wandered lonely as a cloud” is also a reference to his poem that related with his own experiences with nature. In this poem also the scene is just very simple and ordinary. But the way he thinks it’s an extreme level of his thoughts and he connected with his own life. This is the very best and touches part of his poetries which particularly connected with nature.

This is a poem which tells how childhood flies away like the butterfly. It tells how a person’s childhood is very important and how that person must make well out of it and enjoy every moment of their childhood.Basically, the narrator is charmed by a butterfly in his garden which makes him think of the gracefull moments he spent in his childhood.Wordsworth and his sister both used to play in their garden.Wordsworth wanted that butterfly not to fly away.

He remembers his childhood days when he had a very closed relation with the nature like the butterfly and many other nature aspects. The butterfly symbolizes Wordsworth’s childhood. He wants the memories of his childhood to stay.In second stanza he is asking the butterfly to stay with him because, from that little butterfly he could recall his past childhood days.

In the first stanza from last three lines he is talking about his passing of childish days.Motionless of the butterfly is exemplifies as childhood days and the breeze is exemplifies as time. When the breeze come the flower and the butterfly definitely will move.Like that when the time comes everyone’s life also have to move on.From the scene of the butterfly Wordsworth reveals beautiful and meaningfull philosophical truth.

In this poem also he feels and describes the nature line by line. His contemplate thinking, the way he calls the butterfly, deep concentration about butterfly’s motion, the question he asks and the replies that he give, the way of requesting to the butterfly, talking about his childhood days. All these impressing aspects are will make readers comfortable and these will emotionally touches the readers heart.
