Language is often described with many definitions. Language is a set of sounds, which is used by an individual or a group of people as a tool to express their views and thoughts to one another. Whereas language is also used to think of something in a mind. Especially language offers you an external identification in a community you live. Sometimes we see language as something, which is deeply interconnected with human life, and the special report of NSF (National Science Foundation) clearly states that language is something, which is common to all human beings, and they are “hard wired” for it.

Language and linguistics have a mutual connection with each other, although language and linguistics are two different terms we can notice that there is a relationship between them. Language is a sign system of human kind in order to communicate ones thought and feelings, but linguistics is a scientific study of language. Therefore, linguistics play a major role in the study of language. Linguistics distinguishes into many branches. Apart from that linguistics has many categories. One is pure linguistics and the other is applied linguistics. Phonetics, Syntax,  Semantics, Morphology, Discourse comes under the category of pure linguistics

Among all the above mentioned aspects of pure linguistics, morphology play a vital role in language learning. In phonetics the learner learns about sounds whereas in  morphology, words and their structure is studied, apart from these there are many units and functions of morphology. Morphology is a study where the learner sees how the words are formed, we see a relationship between the same language. Morphology is different from other divisions because it analyses the structure of words and parts of of words such as tense, root words, suffixes and prefixes
After learning the sounds of the words (phonetics), the immediate thing that a learner will focus will be the words or the structure of words, and only after that, the process of language learning will develop gradually. Especially, the process of constructing meaningful sentence will happen only after the learner knows something about morphology which will lead the learner to increase his or her language learning process.

Morphology is given a deep consideration during the second language learning. Second language learning is a process of learning L2 within a formal classroom setting. Moreover, for a learner to learn the second language he or she should be well aware of the sounds of the words which is simply known in terms of phonetics (as mentioned earlier) after being aware of the sounds the structure of words, formation of those words, parts of words and many more matters related to morphology will be given attention

Along with these, when the learner learns about the morphs, allomorphs, bound morphemes, free morphemes, inflectional morphemes and derivational morphemes the learner will find a way to speed up the process of language learning. As mentioned earlier, morphology helps the learner to learn the words and then the knowledge related to it will gradually increase the process of language learning.

For instance, an inflectional morpheme will help the learner to know the grammatical catergories. The word “skip”, the past tense of this word is skipped. The inflectional morpheme “ed” is being added to the base form of the word “skip” to indicate the tense of the word and in another instance in the “dog” the plural format will be “dogs” where an “s” is been added to indicate the noun as a pluralization.

As for the derivational morphemes, affixes (suffixes and prefixes) will be added to a certain word for example when the word slow is added “ly” or “ness”, it will change as slowly or slowness. It will let the learner know the pattern of the word and identify whether it is an adverb or adjective. So these kind of practises will help the learner to speed up his or her language learning process which is a part of morphology.

Hence, to conclude language is something which a learner a acquires from various ways, and linguistics is a deep study or a scientific study regarding language, when the learner applies linguistics he or she will be thorough about it which will gradually help him to expedite his or her language learning process. Moreover, morphology play a vital role to speed up the language learning process.
